Program Coordinator Mark Gunderson has finalized the members of Pacific Crest’s creative team for the 2014 season. There are familiar faces as well as new folks he’s added to the team. Continuing in his role, Mark will manage the instructional staff and facilitate the design and implementation of the performance program.

Corps Manager David Pham has resigned after serving in that position for two years. David has been a member of Pacific Crest’s staff since 2006, and has served as visual instructor, Tour Director, and Corps Manager. He performed with Pacific Crest from 2002 – 2005 in the tuba section.
Pacific Crest’s 2013 members included 154 students from 92 colleges, universities, and high schools. The corps represented 94 cities, including a handful of out-of-state students representing 7 states and Japan.

On Wednesday, July 3rd, Pacific Crest presented a clinic to the high school music students in the Moreno Valley Unified School District. “This isn’t about you becoming a member of Pacific Crest,” explained Corps Manager David Pham, “It’s about getting you fired up for the upcoming marching band season!”

Pacific Crest’s 2013 brass section leaders were selected at the January camp. Adrian Rivas and Mark Kveton (both PC alumni) will coordinate Pacific Crest’s leadership development program.
Four drum majors were selected to lead Pacific Crest on the field for 2013. Tim Yao is returning for a second year, and will be joined by veteran member Zach Voth and two new members, DaJuan Brooks and Hobie Lindholm.
Program Coordinator Mark Gunderson has tapped Tim Darbonne to be Pacific Crest’s 2013 drill designer. Darbonne designs and instructs for some of the most noted band programs in the Southern United States. He’s also taught for a number of World Class Drum Corps, including Madison Scouts, Troopers, and currently, the Blue Devils.

Tom Aungst will be joining the Pacific Crest percussion staff for the 2013 season. With more than 37 years in the drum corps activity, Tom is a recognized leader in design and instruction.
Jim Olea is an alumnus of Pacific Crest and currently serves on the Cavaliers Medical Group. Pacific Crest has tapped him to serve as its new Member Health Coordinator.

Matt Lackey has been a Pacific Crest visual instructor for nine seasons, but in 2013 he will lead the visual program as Caption Head. To complete the reorganization, including changes to the corps’ marching technique and staffing, Matt is bringing aboard Bill Fritz as Co-Caption Head.

Pacific Crest is pleased to announce the appointment of Seth Murphy as Co-Caption Head of its brass program. Murphy came to Pacific Crest last fall after three years with the Bluestars, where he served as Assistant Caption Head in 2011.
A unique partnership was created between the Moreno Valley Unified School District, the Moreno Valley 4th of July Parade Committee, and Pacific Crest that resulted in an agreement that met the needs of all three stakeholders.
