Jack Pytlik | Brass
Jack Pytlik is entering his first season with Pacific Crest, and he’s already making an impression as someone whose talents extend well beyond the brass section.
A native of Tracy, California, Jack keeps busy with no shortage of creative pursuits. In addition to playing brass, he’s active in theatre both onstage and behind the scenes, where he works in hair and makeup. His interests don’t stop there: he tutors math, performs in jazz ensembles, and hopes to become a composer someday.
(A fun fact about Jack: He won a speech and debate tournament despite only competing in a single event.)
What drew him to Pacific Crest wasn’t the prestige or pageantry, but the atmosphere. “I really like the environment of Pacific Crest,” Jack shared. “It’s so welcoming and everyone is so kind regardless of where you’re at. I feel PC is a great environment for me to grow in.”
Coming in, Jack admitted he expected the corps environment to feel a bit more intimidating. “I really thought that people would be more snobbish, but it is nothing like that.”
Instead, he found an environment that challenges him and pushes him to improve at every rehearsal. Though his Pacific Crest journey is just beginning, Jack is already proving himself to be the kind of performer who embraces every opportunity in front of him.
