Meet the 2013 Brass Section Leaders

Pacific Crest’s 2013 brass section leaders were selected at the January camp. Adrian Rivas and Mark Kveton (both PC alumni) will coordinate Pacific Crest’s leadership development program.

“The Brass section has a great mix of proven leaders and equally talented veteran performers that are looking to contribute even more to the success of 2013,” said Rivas. “I’m really looking forward to building on the leadership program that we’ve developed over the past few years to provide these section leaders with the tools and best practices to balance their responsibilities as both performers and to serve their sections in a leadership capacity.”


Jair Bonilla (trumpet) is in his fourth year with Pacific Crest. He lives in Montclair, California, and is enrolled in the recording technology program at Citrus College. Personal Statement: I want to develop my communication skills, and learn how to lead different types of people.
Sean Eckley (trumpet) is also in his fourth season with Pacific Crest. Sean is a sophomore at UC Santa Cruz, pursuing a degree in marine biology. His hometown is Thousand Oaks, California.Personal Statement: As a leader, I hope to pass on my passion for Pacific Crest, lead by example, and improve my skills of managing and cooperating with such a large group of my fellow peers.
Taylor Mathewson (mellophone), also a four-year member, attends Chaffey College, and intends to transfer to a four-year university to study business and accounting. He’s from Rancho Cucamonga, California.  Personal Statement:  I look forward to continuing my development of effective leadership methods, problem solving strategies, and decision-making skills.
Rick Kodani (mellophone) is in his second year with Pacific Crest. He is a sophomore at El Camino College, and plans to pursue a degree in electrical engineering.  Rick’s hometown is Redondo Beach, California.  Personal Statement:  I looking forward to being a role model for the new members not only in my section, but in the horn line as well.
Nathaneael Becerra (baritone) is in his fifth season with Pacific Crest. He is studying music composition at Azusa Pacific University, and is also from Rancho Cucamonga, California. Personal Statement: As a leader, I want to learn how to be a better servant to my section so that they can become the future leaders of the corps.
Neil Nordhof (baritone) is in his second year with PC. He’s from San Luis Obispo, California, and is a sophomore computer science major at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.  Personal Statement: I’m hoping to learn how to work with a co-section leader in leading a larger group of people.
Alex Moore (tuba) is in his fifth season with Pacific Crest. He is a junior at Northern Arizona University, majoring in mechanical engineering. His home town is Murrieta, California.  Personal Statement: I want to learn more about my own strengths and weaknesses while motivating those around me achieve things they may not have thought possible.
