JOEY VALENZUELA has been teaching in the Southern California area since 2000. He has performed across the country with groups such as Pacific Crest, Corona Winter Guard and Fantasia Winter Guard. Joey has taught award-winning groups all over the southern California area such as Azusa High School, Charter Oak High School, Whittier High School and Chino High School.
He is currently the Caption Head at Bellflower High School, Damien High School and Bonita High School. He was also in charge of the color guard with the 605 All-Star Band for the 2025 Tournament of Roses Parade. Recently, Damien HS was featured in the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, where the color guard was featured by the recording artist Conan Gray. He has also taught at Impulse Drum & Bugle Corps, Pacific Crest Drum & Bugle Corps as well as The Academy Drum & Bugle Corps and Gold Drum & Bugle Corps. He is also involved with the Winter Guard Association of Southern California, one of the largest winter guard circuits in the country, where he serves as Head of the Classification Committee.
