Color Guard Instructor
CARRIE APPEL is a proud Pacific Crest alumnae, born and raised in Southern California. Her color guard career started in 2011 and led to an extensive marching history including: Dos Pueblos HS, UCLA Marching Band, Infinity Winterguard, Pacific Crest, Diamante, and the Santa Clara Vanguard. Carrie also had the opportunity to march in other types of performance ensembles such as the LA Pride Parade, Pacific Crest’s 25th Anniversary appearance in the Rose Parade, CBDNA Intercollegiate Marching Band, and in the visual ensemble at Pulse Percussion.
Carrie is a full-time color guard instructor and has taught many programs in the past seven years as a director, choreographer, and technician. She is currently the director of the UCLA Color Guard, a role she has held since 2019, in addition to serving on the color guard staff at Arcadia High School, West (Torrance) High School, and Zoetic Independent. Scholastic programs that Carrie has worked with in the past include Culver City High School, Granada Hills Charter, and others in the Los Angeles area. Carrie was also a main choreographer for the Vanguard Cadets during the 2022 season, helping lead them to a DCI Open Class Championship.
Carrie attended UCLA and holds a bachelor’s degree in World Arts and Cultures, and Visual and Performing Arts Education. She is excited to return home to Pacific Crest.
