ZACHARY NOVACK is a Computer Science Ph.D. student at the University of California – San Diego, where his current research (with Prof. Julian McAuley) looks at using advances in artificial intelligence to augment music creation and education. Zachary received his Bachelor’s of Science in Statistics and Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA), where he was advised by Prof. Zachary Lipton and Prof. Simon DeDeo.
Previously, Zachary has taught and designed for a number of marching bands and indoor percussion groups across the country, including Tomball HS (Tomball TX), Gateway HS (Monroeville PA), Cooper City HS (Davie, FL), West Broward HS (Pembroke Pines, HS), and Stryke Percussion 2 (Hollywood, FL). His performance experience includes Stryke Percussion (17-18), Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps (17-18), as well as the CMU electro-acoustic “Exploded” Ensemble. Zachary is intensely passionate about music pedagogy and bringing the cutting edge of audio signal processing into the marching world.
