Drum Corps International Hall of Fame member Todd Ryan will work as Visual Consultant for Pacific Crest’s 2014 season. Todd is Visual Caption Head for the Blue Devils, and is a world renowned educator and clinician. Pacific Crest Visual Co-Caption Heads, Matt Lackey and Bill Fritz, have hired Todd to provide guidance as they develop the visual program at Pacific Crest.
“Quite simply, Todd Ryan is THE visual instructor. His passion is infectious, his style has transformed the activity, and his ability to push students to peak performance is inspiring,” explained Lackey. “Bill and I are beyond excited to be working with him this coming season, and look forward to his impact on our visual program.”
Pacific Crest created a staff mentoring program in 2010, when Gordon Henderson was hired to advise the design team and brass staff. Since then, Pacific Crest staff and members have worked with Gene Monterastelli, Ralph Pace, Frank Williams, and most recently Tom Aungst.
“I’m proud of the culture of professional development at Pacific Crest,” said Stuart Pompel, the organization’s Executive Director. “Our instructors are serious about their work and committed to the experience of our performing members. I am pleased that they actively seek and engage mentors to help develop our program and improve our members’ experience!”
Todd’s first time with the corps will be at the December Auditions. “Pacific Crest is a corps I have watched over the years with interest. Matt and Bill have offered an opportunity for me to work with the corps. I am honored to have this chance to share my experience with them, their staff, and the students.”
