More than 70 people attended the Pacific Crest Charity Golf Tournament and luncheon this past Friday, October 9th.
Golfers began to arrive at the Los Serranos Golf and Country Club in Chino Hills as early as 7:00 AM for registration, according to tournament chair, Phil Mortensen. By 8:00 AM they were all out on the course, the teams challenging one another for the first three places, as well as other contests, including longest drive, closest to the hole, and the hole-in-one contest (the winner of which would have won a 2009 Honda Accord LX!).
During lunch, Pacific Crest members and alumni sold raffle tickets and assisted Mortensen with the silent and live auction. The most lucrative auction item (winning bid of $750) was a plane trip to and from Santa Barbara, including lunch on the beach. For the second year, it was won by Mike Piontkowski, Principal Tehnical Relationship Manager at Ctirix, Inc. "This trip was so great last year, I had to come back just to bid on it again!" he said.
Proceeds from the tournament help make up the gap between tuition and what it costs to run Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps.
