On Friday, October 5, 80 golfers arrived at Los Serranos Golf and Country Club to play in the Pacific Crest Annual Charity Golf Tournament. "This was the largest number of golfers we've ever had," said Executive Director Stuart Pompel.
"I'm so proud of our Board of Directors, who put this event together, and the committee chairs, George and Sue Perry, who did an amazing job of coordinating the entire event from start to finish!"
The Emcee for the event was John Ireland, a supporter and consultant for Pacific Crest. John is a successful actor in the Los Angeles area (most recently appearing in a number of independent films and in a newly released Sprint commercial). His engaging style helped to raise $5,000 on the raffle and auction, alone.
Some Diamond Bar "royalty" showed up for the tournament. Current Diamond Mayor Pro Tem Jack Tanaka, and his wife Wanda, were present for the dinner. Two former Diamond Bar mayors were also in attendance – Debby O'Connor and John Forbing – both of whom have been playing the tournament for the past few years.
The 2008 Tournament will be held on Friday, October 3, 2008, at Los Serranos. The Organization hopes to reach a goal of 100 players for next year's tournament.
