It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Edward Martin, Pacific Crest’s Operations Director, who passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of February 13. Ed had been courageously battling a rare form of cancer since last April and was kept comfortable in recent days under hospice care.
Ed joined the Pacific Crest administrative team in 2010, bringing with him 30 years of group travel experience. His leadership was instrumental in building our summer tour, recruiting and coordinating support staff, and managing our food service program. He also led our apparel sales efforts, helping to raise vital funding for Pacific Crest.
Before his time with us, Ed served as the founding director of Yamato Drum & Bugle Corps, where he dedicated a decade to shaping the lives of its young performers. His impact on both organizations was profound—not only through his operational expertise but also through the countless relationships he nurtured. In particular, Ed fostered a sense of community among our support staff, many of whom were alumni parents who remained dedicated volunteers long after their children had stopped performing.
A celebration of life will be planned in the future, and we will share details as they become available. In the meantime, we encourage each of you who knew Ed to take a moment to reflect on the impact he had on your life. The drum corps activity — especially Pacific Crest — meant everything to him, and he took great pride in the contributions he made during his 25 years in the activity.
Ed’s absence will be deeply felt, but his legacy will live on in the lives he touched.
