Sam Perez
Brass Instructor
SAMUEL PEREZ III currently serves as the Assistant Band Director at Long Beach Polytechnic High School in Long Beach, CA. His teaching responsibilities include The Poly Marching Unit and the Concert Band, as well as overseeing the program’s Winter Color Guard.
Sam attended California University State Long Beach, where he received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He will be pursuing his Master’s of Music Teaching and Learning from the University of Southern California in Fall of 2023, while being a member of the Trojan Marching Band and Concert Jazz Orchestra. Additionally, Sam is a member of the Lakers Band, and as an avid trumpet player, regularly gigs and records on albums in the Los Angeles area.
Sam spent three summers performing with Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps, serving as a three time lead trumpet soloist, trumpet section leader, and horn sergeant in 2021. He went on to age-out with The Concord Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps, helping them earn their 20th World Championship and was named the Brass Rookie of the Year. Sam is very excited to join the Pacific Crest brass team this season and give back to an organization that has provided him with countless opportunities.
