Larry Anders runs Anders Catering, a Southern California catering company that was Drum Corps International’s official caterer for the 2007 Championships. He is a member of Pacific Crest’s Instructor Circle, and in this first Donor Spotlight, Anders explains his passion for drum corps and why he gives to Pacific Crest.
I remember Pacific Crest’s first year. It was so exciting to see the start of new drum & bugle corps from Diamond Bar. It’s very special when people come together to create an organization that supports the performing arts. And as I watch Pacific Crest grow over the years I truly believe that it is because of their commitment to high standards, business-like professionalism and the many motivated individuals who desire the most from their efforts in the performing arts.
Here is a little story, once was a Drum & Bugle Corps called “The Floridians” and Jerry Peel was the horn instructor. Jerry was great guy; he inspired us because he was the real McCoy. Jerry gave his time and knowledge to the Floridians at the same time teaching at the University of Miami and performing “first call” French horn. On top of that, Jerry was also touring and recording with Chuck Mangione, playing solos on Children of Sanchez and Live at The Hollywood Bowl. Jerry was our benchmark as well as a fine example of a person who cares and gives back to others.
I’m thankful to be in a position to give back, and it it’s with great pleasure to be a Pacific Crest Instructors Circle Sponsor. Keep up the great work Pacific Crest and Thanks Mr. Peel wherever you are.
