What is the deadline?
While our original deadline of January 10th has passed, our auditions will continue through the winter until spots are filled. Time is of the essence, so you will want to start the process as soon as possible. Here is a proposed timeline for you to follow after registering:
- Week 1 – Study the materials and practice
- Week 2 – Continue practicing and submit video
- Week 3 – Take private lesson
- Week 4 – Incorporate instructor comments and sign up for audition date
The process should take four or five weeks in total.
Note: We are no longer accepting drum major applications.
With so much uncertainty, what am I actually auditioning for?
We expect to produce a drum corps ensemble of 76 brass, 40 color guard, 35 percussion, and 3 drum majors. Our plan is to perform locally as well as in Indianapolis the second week of August for the DCI celebration of marching music and the kick-off of DCI’s 50th anniversary. 2021 Schedule At-a-Glance
Our 2021 schedule is broken into phases that can modified or stopped based on the status of pandemic restrictions.
Phase 1: Winter and Spring Education (February through June)
Remote meetings, masterclasses, and sub-sectionals. If we are permitted to gather in small groups, sub-sectionals (and sectionals) could be in-person
Phase 2: Preseason Training (July 5 – August 8)
During this 35-day period, we plan to coordinate the field show and prepare the other material to fill out a 45-minute set.
Phase 3: Local Performances (July 24 – August 7)
Field shows (if permitted), drive-in or amphitheater concerts, and live streaming performances in Southern California.
Phase 4: Indianapolis Trip (August 9 – August 15)
The corps will fly one-way to the Indy area on August 9. Tuesday and Wednesday would be rehearsal days, and we would perform in the DCI shows Thursday through Saturday. All performers will fly home (on their own) Sunday, August 15.
2021 Program Costs
Tuition is $2,850 plus the cost of the one-way group flight to the Indianapolis area, which will be paid directly to Pacific Crest. We will do our best to keep the airfare as inexpensive as possible. You should plan for other expenses, as well, including your airline ticket home from Indianapolis and some supplies, e.g.brass mouthpieces, costume undergarments, shoes, laundry money, etc.
